Narcan nasal spray

Lab X-Perts LLC, has partnered with The Florida Department of Children and Families Overdose Prevention Program, as a Naloxone, also known as Narcan distributor.

The Florida Department of Children and Families Overdose Prevention Program is designed to reduce opioid overdose deaths by providing access to FDA-approved emergency opioid antagonists as defined in the statute here. Organizations that serve individuals at risk of witnessing or experiencing opioid overdose. Narcan nasal spray is the emergency opioid antagonist DCF currently purchases. DCF two primary goals are to provide overdose recognition and response training.

DCF first primary goal is to provide overdose recognition and response training to organizations and individuals who may witness or experience an opioid overdose. Naloxone, also known as Narcan, is a medication that can reverse an opioid overdose. Opioids include prescription pain medications like hydrocodone, oxycodone, as well as heroin, fentanyl, and other opioids. Opioid overdose deaths are preventable if naloxone is administered in time, but many cannot access it due to barriers like cost, transportation, and where to locate free kits. Secondary distribution is also highly encouraged.

People who use drugs are individuals most likely to witness an overdose in the community and commonly the first responders during an overdose. They are administered to someone overdosing at a rate 10 times greater than people who do not use drugs. Emphasizing the importance of ensuring that people who use drugs have continuous access to naloxone. To save lives and meet the needs of the community in Florida, more low barrier naloxone distribution programs are needed across the state.
